Dr. dr. Meita Hendrianingtyas, SpPK(K), M.Si.Med (Lecturer at FK UNDIP) Conducted Cross Sectional Research on Women of Productive Age with Central Obesity at RSND

Dr. dr. Meita Hendrianingtyas, SpPK(K), M.Si.Med is a lecturer at the Clinical Pathology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University. She graduated as a Doctor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Diponegoro University (FK Undip) in 2022. Apart from teaching at FK Undip (2008-present), she is also the Doctor in Charge at Diponegoro National Hospital (2014-present). She is also active participating in national and international scientific activities include The 12th CPD on Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine 2021: The Challenge of CPLM in COVID-19 Pandemic, Now and Future and Konker X and PIT XX: Clinical Laboratory Strategy in The New Era to face on 5.0 Industrial Revolution.

dr. Meita’s research entitled “FTOrs9939609 Gene, CRP, PTH/25(OH)D Ratio and Calcium/Phosphorus Ratio as a Risk Factors for Osteopenia: Study of Women of Childbearing Age with Central Obesity” using a cross-sectional study method on 130 women aged 25-50 years with central obesity in Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND).

“The research is motivated by the fat mass and obesity genes which play a role in obesity, related to bone mass which aims to prove the FTO rs 9939609, CRP, 25(OH)D, PTH, ratio PTH/25(OH)D, Ca, P and Ca/P ratio as risk factors for osteopenia in women with central obesity of reproductive age,” she said.

Diagnosis of osteopenia is carried out from bone mineral density examination by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, detection of FTO rs 9939609 gene polymorphism with Taqman Assay, levels of CRP, PTH and 25(OH)D by enzyme linked fluorescent assay, calcium ion by ion selective electrode and phosphorus by photometry. Receiver operating characteristic to determine the best cut-off value to predict risk, by calculating the prevalence ratio (RP). Logistic regression model to control factors that influence the incidence of osteopenia.

“The conclusion from this study is that PTH levels > 23.25 pg/dL, Ca levels > 1.52 mmol/L, PTH/25(OH)D ratio > 2.425, Ca/P ratio > 1.185 are risk factors for osteopenia. PTH levels > 23.25 pg/dL accompanied by Ca > 1.52 mmol/L are the great risk factors for osteopenia,” concluded dr. Meita. (Lin/Joshua – Public Relations)
