UNNES ranks in the top 20 best universities in Indonesia according to SIR 2023

SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), the institution that ranks world universities, has released its list of the best universities for 2023. This year, there are 61 institutions in Indonesia that made the SIR ranking list.

The SIR ranking for this year is based on a composite indicator that combines three different indicator sets, namely Research at 50%, Innovation at 20%, and Societal at 20%.

In the assessment of the Research aspect, several indicators were used, namely Normalized Impact (NI), Excellence with Leadership (EwL), Output (O), Scientific Leadership (L), Not Own Journals (NotOJ), Own Journals (OJ), Excellence (Exc), High Quality Publications (Q1), International Collaboration (IC), Open Access (OA), and Scientific Talent Pool (STP).

For the Innovation aspect, the indicators used are Innovative Knowledge (IK), Patents (PT), and Technological Impact (TI). Meanwhile, in the Societal aspect, the assessment indicators are Altmetrics (AM), Inbound Links (BN), and Web Size (WS).

This year, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has claimed its position in the top 20 best universities in Indonesia based on the SIR ranking.

UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si, expressed his pride that UNNES has received national and international recognition. He also expressed his gratitude to all elements and academics of UNNES for their hard work and outstanding achievements.

“We are grateful, in line with UNNES as a state legal entity university, we continue to improve governance, usefulness, and reputation on the world stage. And Alhamdulillah, UNNES has been recognized by successfully entering the ranking of the 17 best universities in Indonesia and world ranking of 4212,” He concluded.
