“Seize the Golden Opportunity Through the PMM Program: Universitas Terbuka Shares Success Tips”

On November 23, 2023, Universitas Terbuka hosted its 34th Knowledge Sharing Forum (KSF) with an intriguing theme, “Strategies and Success Tips for Participating in the PMM (Independent Student Exchange) Program.” This event served as a platform for students to gain a deeper understanding of the golden opportunities offered by the Independent Student Exchange (PMM) program within the context of Independent Learning.

Prof. Dr. Paken Pandiangan, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Rector for Information Systems & Student Affairs at UT, delivered the opening remarks. He emphasized that Independent Learning provides a rare chance for students to break free from outdated constraints of traditional education and embark on a learning journey aligned with their interests. One compelling option is through the PMM program.

Dyah Ayu Yuli Murniyati, S.T., M.Eng., the first speaker, provided a comprehensive overview of all aspects of the PMM program. She discussed the program’s background, registration procedures, requirements, necessary documents, and other details.

As the second speaker, Fajar Fasha, a UT student majoring in Public Administration, shared his fascinating experiences as an alumnus of the PMM program. Despite coming from a different field of study, Fajar had the opportunity to study in the International Relations program at the Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Sorong. He recounted his adventurous journey, from experiencing a new learning environment to exploring the natural beauty of Sorong, meeting international students from Papua New Guinea, and savoring the delightful cuisine of Papua.

Dr. Kurnia Endah Riana, SE., M.Com., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Business, provided insights into the MBKM registration process at UT and encouraged all students to seize this valuable opportunity.

The PMM program is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) and allows students to attend classes for one semester at universities outside their island cluster. This program not only offers a unique learning experience but also provides a chance to explore Indonesia’s cultural diversity through the Nusantara Module curriculum and engage with students from various backgrounds. UT students, let’s make the most of this opportunity! The registration period runs from October 30 to December 3, 2023.
