Festive Ramadan, IKA ITS Organizes 1,000 Orphans’ Benefit

ITS Campus, ITS News – Ramadan is a month full of blessings so it is appropriate to be a momentum to share happiness between people. In enlivening this holy month, the Alumnus Association of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (IKA ITS) East Java Regional Management (PW Jatim) provided compensation to 1,000 orphans and the poor, on Thursday (6/4). This annual Ramadan activity took place in the Manarul Ilmi ITS Mosque area.

Chairman of IKA ITS PW East Java Eri Cahyadi ST MT said that this compensation is the tenth time held by IKA ITS PW East Java. So it is expected to be a form of consistency in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan. The mayor of Surabaya added that there were 20 foundations and orphanages invited to participate in this joint charity and iftar event. “Of course, this is a manifestation of ITS as a campus that likes to share and introduce these children to the beauty of sharing,” said Eri.

Event Chief Executive M Mukhlis Ndoyo Said ST revealed that the choice of the ITS Manarul Ilmi Mosque as the venue was related to community participation and ITS students. Mukhlis continued that there were 920 orphans and 134 poor people who attended the event. “Hopefully, it can help their survival and strengthen the positive relationship between IKA ITS and the community around ITS,” said the ITS Systems and Industrial Engineering alumnus.

The happiness of the orphans as they break their fast together in the 1,000 Orphans Benefit event at the Manarul Ilmi ITS Mosque.

Also present was ITS Rector Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng who in his speech invited the invitees to always study hard so that they could study at ITS later. “Hopefully these children can always develop their interests and talents to achieve their future goals,” he hoped. 

In this event, IKA ITS PW East Java provided several donations in the form of cash, food packages, and toiletries. Not only compensation, this routine event is also filled with tausiah with the theme of friendship by Dr. H Muhammad Robith Fuadi Lc MThI and musical performances from Rebana ITS UKM.
