UNIDA Gontor – Darussalam University (UNIDA) Gontor has recently received foreign guests from Kazakhstan on Friday to Saturday (April 26-27, 2024). They are representatives from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) and Narxoz University Kazakhstan. The visit is a response from KazNU to the delegation from UNIDA Gontor on February 28 when they conducted joint research. This also serves as a follow-up to the cooperation agreement signed on November 10, 2023. Representatives from Narxoz also attended the visit to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNIDA Gontor and Narxoz University held at the Rector’s Office, Main Building of UNIDA Gontor.

Delegation participants in the visit include Nurmagambetova Azhar Zeinullaevna, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting, and Kurbanova Karlygash Abdullayevna, Ph.D., Senior Lecturer in Finance from KazNU. Also, Assoc. Prof. Nurgalieva Aliya Miyazdenovna, Ph.D., Lecturer in Accounting and Auditing from Narxoz University.

The visit was warmly welcomed by the Rector of UNIDA Gontor, Prof. Dr. K.H. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, M.A.Ed., M.Phil., and his staff during a dinner at the UNIDA Inn Restaurant. Not only did they visit UNIDA Gontor’s Main Campus, but they also visited Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor a day earlier, and then conducted a seminar on “Trends and Development of Islamic Finance: Issues and Challenges” scheduled for UNIDA Gontor’s Class C Mantingan female students on Monday (April 29, 2024).

In addition to academic visits, the guests from Kazakhstan also plan to tour Bali. In connection with this, the Rector recommended several hotels owned by alumni of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Their journey was accompanied by one of the UNIDA Gontor lecturers until their return to Kazakhstan. The warm reception they received left a lasting impression. In a testimonial written in the guest book, they hope that the cooperation between UNIDA Gontor and KazNU as well as Narxoz University will continue to flourish.

This activity is certainly not new in the dynamics of UNIDA Gontor. Its academic community will continue to strive to develop cooperation in various fields, especially with various campuses worldwide. This is an effort to realize the Trimurti’s aspirations to make UNIDA Gontor a quality and meaningful university, recognized internationally as a World Class University.
