UNIDA Gontor – As part of an Academic Collaborative Visit to several universities in Spain, University of Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor paid a visit to Universidad de Sevilla on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Led by the Rector of UNIDA Gontor, Prof. Dr. K.H. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, M.A.Ed., M.Phil, the official delegation was received by Mrs. Carmen Vargas Macias, Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations and Internationalization.

Universidad de Sevilla responded positively to the cooperation proposed by UNIDA Gontor, which includes various areas of collaboration such as collaborative research, student mobility, and others. This is in line with programs already undertaken by UNIDA with various universities in Turkey and several other countries.

With a student population reaching 75,000, Universidad de Sevilla reaffirmed its commitment to supporting this cooperation, exploring the possibility of obtaining funding from the Erasmus program of the European Union. This program is expected to provide leadership training and enhance the competencies of faculty and educational staff at UNIDA Gontor.

Furthermore, during this occasion, K.H. Anang Rikza Masyhadi, Ph.D., as the Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board of the Assalam Fil Alamin (ASFA Foundation), also reiterated his commitment to developing human resources (HR) in Islamic boarding schools, by exploring opportunities for sending boarding school cadres to Universidad de Sevilla.

This visit not only creates broad opportunities for cooperation between the two institutions but also brings hope for beneficial collaborations aimed at improving the quality of education and fostering sustainable human resource development in Indonesia, especially in Islamic boarding schools.
