An international scientific and practical conference was held at the Al -Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic: “Legal problems of ensuring environmental safety in the context of the transition to sustainable development of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the honored figure, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, Professor Abduali Erenovich Erenov. The event is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Al -Farabi Kazakh National University.

The conference was held in a hybrid format, and was attended by leading scientists from Kazakhstan and foreign countries, representatives of government bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international and national experts, representatives of civil society, human rights organizations, teachers and students of universities, and media representatives.

University of Darussalam Gontor in this regard invited to deliver other notable remarks on legal and Islamic financial issues to ameliorate the unresolved issues on the environment taking the case of Indonesia. Assoc. Prof. Akhmad Affandi Mahfudz, CPIF spoke this topic and reaffirms international climate and environmental commitment with a focus on legal and the role of Islamic finance to promote a more sustainable and resilient blue economy.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech by a member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Law, Professor Lyazzat Erkinbaeva. The vice-rector noted that Abduali Erenov was a participant in the Second World War, in 1949 he entered graduate school at the Institute of State and Law of the USSR Academy of Sciences, defended his candidate and doctoral dissertations, and in 1965 received the title of professor. In 1967, he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. For many years, A. Erenov was a member of the dissertation council and trained many outstanding scientists and professors who today work in different countries.

This conference was held as part of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aimed at building a peaceful, open and democratic society in the interests of its sustainable development.

The conference was organized by: the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law of the Law Faculty, Al Farabi Kazakh National University Kazakhstan (KazNU).
