UNIDA Gontor – Akhmad Affandi Mahfudz, Ph.D., is a lecturer in the Postgraduate Program at the University of Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor, who had the opportunity to pass the selection for an international class visiting professor program. This doctor, fluent in English and Arabic, is an active lecturer in the Sharia Economic Law Masters Study Program (HES). His competence in Islamic economics and finance is very authentic and qualified. He is supported again by his skills in the field of scientific research methodology, both qualitative and quantitative. Many HES master graduates have been born at this Islamic boarding school system and waqf-based tertiary institution.
This global-level program is one of the activities of the Government of Kazakhstan, especially in the Sharia Finance and Banking field. It presents several leading figures to raise the ranking of universities in their respective fields. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is currently ranked 153 in the world based on the 2023 QS World University Ranking. This program has several strategic objectives, namely increasing knowledge and expertise, providing teaching in the classroom, guiding postgraduate student scientific research research, guiding master’s thesis writing and doctoral dissertations, and as a guest speaker for some international seminars or conferences.
The full support of the UNIDA Gontor leadership for its academic community to take part on the world stage through various activities continues to give. Among other things, through this prestigious program, the receiving lecturers will be able to experience educational experiences and take lessons from education abroad, besides increasing the motivation and accumulation of the quantity of value towards the level of Professor.
The 1993 Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) alumnus, who also served as the Director of ZICO Shariah Indonesia, is scheduled to live in Kazakhstan in December 2022. The program will take place at Al-Farabi Kazakh state university with several carefully prepared agendas. Several academic activities for Postgraduate students and lecturers on the campus have been designed compactly and productively. The educational activities to be carried out consist of teaching in English for doctoral students, guidance on writing theses and dissertations in the finance and accounting departments, training on both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and becoming a resource person for several national and international seminars in the field of Islamic finance.
