UNIDA Gontor Welcomes Students From Turkiye as a New Family

UNIDA Gontor – University of Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor continues to strive to provide the best education for potential successors to the Indonesian Nation and foreign students. On Thursday (27/10/2022), Vice Rector I UNIDA Gontor, Al Ustadz Dr. Abdul Hafidz Zaid, M.A., Vice Rector II Al Ustadz Dr. Setiawan bin Lahuri, Lc., M.A., and Vice Rector III Al Ustadz Dr. Khoirul Umam, M.Ec., along with the lecturers involved welcomed the arrival of 5 new students from Turkiye who were spread over the Study Program of Al-Qur’an and Interpretation (IQT) and the Masters in Sharia Economic Law (HES).

The welcoming event was framed in a warm atmosphere and was held in the UNIDA Gontor secretariat meeting room. In his remarks and discussion, the Vice Rector conveyed and introduced an outline of the atmosphere and conditions at UNIDA Gontor. And hopes that the five new students from Turkiye can immediately adapt and be active in every activity. Both academically and non-academically.

“You are not guests here, but you are already part of the University of Darussalam Gontor family. Enter UNIDA Gontor completely!” Al-Ustadz Dr. Khoirul Umam, M.Ec. in his speech.

Arriving at the UNIDA Gontor campus on Wednesday (26/10/2022) evening, the Turkish students are planned to live in the Central Campus dormitory, Ponorogo, and one female student who lives at the UNIDA Gontor Females Campus at Mantingan, Ngawi.

UNIDA Gontor is a tertiary institution requiring all its students to live in dormitories. Turkish students are no exception. Because the educational value of UNIDA Gontor lies not only in its knowledge but also in its religious values. Students are required to participate in discussions, participate in Islamization activities, and even memorize the Al-Quran. So the intellectuality of UNIDA Gontor students must also be accompanied by religious morality.

In the discussion session in the rectorate room, representatives of Turkish students admitted that they were quite enthusiastic about the academic and non-academic activities that they would get as long as they were going to be UNIDA Gontor students in the future.

The arrival of foreign students is nothing new for UNIDA Gontor. Not only students from several Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Brunei. It is even recorded that up to now, there are several active students from Chad and Sudan who are currently carrying out knowledge and education at UNIDA Gontor.

This is expected to be a small step for UNIDA Gontor in providing the best educational services and continuing to develop as a world-class university.
