Almaty – Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the UNIDA Gontor delegation visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), Kazakhstan in the context of joint research with the theme “Maqashid Based Compliance System and Sustainable Green Economy in Indonesia and Kazakhstan”. This research delegation was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Akhmad Affandi Mahfudz, CPIF., lecturer of the Islamic Economics Department, UNIDA Gontor who is currently become visiting professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The research visit was welcomed by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Prof. Dr. Lyazzat Erkinbaeva, and several academics at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University including; Prof. Dr. Bimendieva Laila, Dean of Higher School of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Kuanova Laura, Head of the Office of Training and Certification of Research Personel, and Prof. Dr. Saltanat Dzhakubayeva, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization.
The members of the research delegation from UNIDA Gontor include Assoc. Prof. Dr. Setiawan bin Lahuri, M.A., Vice Rector II UNIDA Gontor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khoirul Umam, M. Ec., Vice Rector III UNIDA Gontor, Assoc. Prof. Imam Kamaluddin, M. Hum., Dean of the Sharia Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syamsuri, and M.Sh., Head of the Department Sharia Economic Law Masters.
This activity is a follow-up to the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two universities which was carried out on November 10, 2023, by the Rector of UNIDA Gontor, Prof. Dr. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, M.A.Ed., M.Phil. and Prof. Dr. Tuimebayev Zhanseit Kanseituly, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan.
In his remarks, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Prof. Dr. Lyazzat Erkinbaeva, expressed her extraordinary appreciation to UNIDA Gontor for their bilateral relations which have experienced very significant improvements since the signing of the cooperation agreement. Apart from that, he also hopes that this visit will discuss the direction and goals of future cooperation so that it can produce something useful and profitable for both parties.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Research, Community Service and Alumni of UNIDA Gontor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khoirul Umam, M.Ec. proposed a follow-up discussion on the memorandum of understanding regarding the International Mobility Program, including double degree and student exchange study programs for Islamic Economics and Sharia Economic Law Departments, student mobility, and International KKN. Furthermore, the UNIDA Gontor delegation will also hold a meeting with the Faculty of Oriental Studies (Department of Arabic Language) and the International Relations Study Program to realize the memorandum of understanding.
